National Youth Jazz Orchestra - Marching Band Opportunity

A one off opportunity to perform alongside a National Youth Jazz Orchestra Big Band - in a New Orleans style - marching through the centre of Leicester on Saturday 1st July.
Open to performers aged 11-18 who can play an instrument they can march with and who can become familiar with the music available below (either in their own time or with their music teacher).
They will be required to arrive at Highcross Shopping Centre from 1pm on Saturday 1st July (to meet and register at the Old Topshop unit) where they will join a massed rehearsal / runthrough before 'marching' through the Highcross and outside areas.
They will be led by NYJO Educator and Jazz trombonist Vij Prakash (who features in the guidance videos) and accompanied by the National Youth Jazz Orchestra Big Band, Leicestershire Music Big Band and young musicians from around the County and City.
On the day there will also be DJ workshops, craft sessions and performances from musicians working with Pedestrian.
A t shirt and refreshments (snacks and drinks) will be provided for all performers.
