Alexander, a violinist who lives in Leicestershire, often visits schools to give young people the opportunity to listen to live music. Alexander plays the violin to grade 6 level, and has had to overcome many barriers that have been presented to him on his musical journey. Alexander has learning differences and is a wonderful role model to all our children and young people in Leicester and Leicestershire.

I just wanted to say thank you for putting me in touch with Alexander and his mum. He came in yesterday and played for the whole school for about 20 minutes in assembly. He was inspirational playing with no music and moving to the music whilst playing. The children were in awe, and it did wonders for their appreciation of diversity and acceptance of others as well as hearing live music. I would highly recommend it to other schools.

We are also very pleased to partner up with Thomas and his college to offer a work experience placement. As part of this, Thomas is offering schools free live piano performances to schools.

More about Thomas
I love to play the piano and the church organ. I work with the Hickling Choir on Wednesday nights by accompanying them on the piano and I sometimes do singing and conducting with the choir. I have achieved ABRSM Grade 8 Distinction in piano and Level 3 Music. I am currently working towards my ARSM in piano and I am also learning to play the drums.

I play and compose music in a variety of music genres (both written and digital compositions). I play music individually and also do collaborations with other people (including in the choir and in a band). I have performed at different concerts including charity events at churches, village halls and small theatres in Melton Mowbray and across Leicestershire. I have been nominated for a Young Person Of The Year award at Sense. In connection with this, I featured on an interview with ITV News Central about my progress in music and how it helped me to cope with autism.
