Enriching & Connecting Your World
Through Life-Changing Musical Experiences
Celebrating 75 Years of Music Making
In 1948, Eric Pinkett founded the first orchestra in Leicestershire, and possibly the Country, specifically for children & young people, holding its first performance at Church Langton Primary School – a school now recognised with Eric's Blue Plaque. Since 1948 countless young people in Leicester and Leicestershire have been supported, encouraged and inspired to pick up an instrument or to sing by us under our various guises – Leicestershire County School of Music, Arts in Education, Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service and now Leicestershire Music.
To celebrate this milestone, we're planning an exciting series of events throughout 2023 and would encourage you to join us in this celebration. Please take a look through our website to see how you can get involved!
Whilst over the years our name has changed our values have not and as we look forward into the future we will continue to support, teach, encourage and inspire as many young people as possible to love music as much as we do!
