Celebrating 75 Years of Music Making

We're delighted to share that 2023 is the 75th Anniversary of Leicestershire Music inspiring young people in Leicester and Leicestershire make music.
In 1948, Eric Pinkett's vision was put into practice and the first orchestra was created, holding its first performance at Church Langton Primary School – now recognised with Eric's Blue Plaque. Over the years over 250,000 young people have passed through the service under its many guises – Leicestershire County School of Music, Arts in Education, Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service and now Leicestershire Music.
We're planning an exciting series of events to celebrate this milestone and hope you can join us! We'll be sharing details of these events very soon.
We also want to hear from anyone who has taken part in any of our activities over the years with your memories, be it as part of an Orchestra, Steel Pans, Choir, Band or any other of the myriad of groups we've had over the years. Please get in touch using LMcomms@leics.gov.uk
Lastly – please have a look at our archive, hosted by The Leicester-Shire Music and Cultural Trust – with photos, recordings, videos and memorabilia stretching back into our history. If you have anything that you would like to add, please contact us at LMcomms@leics.gov.uk
