Continued Professional Development

Continuing Professional Development is key to ensuring pupil receive high quality teaching. At LSMS we are proud of the CPD that we offer, knowing that it has supported many teachers and improved the music teaching for hundreds of pupils in Leicester and Leicestershire.

The feedback for the CPD last year was 99% outstanding and the impact of attending the training is visible when visiting schools and seeing and hearing children make music in their lessons.

Autumn 2020 CPD

We are pleased to inform you that we are running CPD sessions that can be accessed online. These will take the format of a 40 minute training session, followed by a 20 discussion Key Stage specific breakout rooms. This will give time to ask questions, gain support and investigate how to embed the training into your music provision and practice.

Session 1 – Tuesday 27th October - Embedding inclusion and diversity in your teaching practice
This session, hosted by Sound Connections, will focus on key considerations for being inclusive in your teaching practice. It will provide space to reflect on social justice issues and values, and begin to consider how you embed inclusivity in the way you plan and deliver lessons. Throughout the session we will share ideas and tips about effective strategies.

Session 2 – Tuesday 10th November - Warm-Ups and Gathering Songs for all ages
Run by Ula Weber from Sing for Pleasure this session will focus on fun and effective warm ups for choirs of all ages and gathering songs to use with your singers as a way of encouraging harmony, creativity and a sense of connection.

Session 3 – Tuesday 24th November - How to create Matrix videos
Led by Jay Langdell from Jam-AV. A session to guide you through the process of making a matrix video for your virtual performances. Expert knowledge and support will be available and Jay will give advice on any issues you may have encountered and share his top tips for making a matrix video.

Session 4 – Wednesday 9th December - Accessing Free Singing Resources
Led by Katy Cooper in partnership with Sing for Pleasure a really useful sessions for anyone working with singers of all ages on where to find free and copyright free singing resources.

In School CPD for Whole Staff

We have fully trained members of staff equipped to deliver CPD within your school or to a family of schools.

Examples of how we have already helped schools are:
• Leading staff meetings
• Modelling high quality music lessons
• Joint lesson observations with senior leaders
• Consultancy to support curriculum planning, subject review, improving teaching and learning

Cost
Bespoke consultancy to include report writing, preparation, course materials if appropriate and delivery.
Whole day £400
Half day £275
Per hour £120

Whole school training by request and/or shared by a cluster of schools
