Taiko Rhythms
Defined by its dynamic playing style, Taiko involves choreographed movement which many identify with Japanese martial arts. It is noted that the principles of Taiko can help with developing respect for one's self, other players, and the instruments in order to bring about a discipline of both body and mind.
Aimed at KS3, the programme consists of 10 x 45 minute lessons with a class size group, use of a set of Taiko drums for the duration of the project and teacher training for school based teachers. Using CPD we could support the class teacher to use the drums with further pupils within the school.
