LM Primary Scheme of Work Training

Essential training if you are new to the LM Primary Scheme of Work.

NB Your school must already have bought the Leicestershire Music Primary Scheme of Work before staff can attend training. This is to ensure that staff are able to access resources before attending training. The resource price also includes training for one member of staff.

When booking on to your first Primary Scheme of Work training session, you will automatically be booked onto subsequent sessions and sent confirmation / reminders of these sessions. Please email LMtraining@leics.gov.uk if you have any queries regarding this.

Session 1 – Unit 1 & 2 Wednesday 5^th June 2024

Session 2 – Unit 3 & 4 Wednesday 20th November 2024

Session 3 – Unit 5 & 6 Wednesday 19th March 2025

By the end of the 3 training sessions you will have the knowledge, understanding and confidence to teach and assess the children's musical learning in the LM Primary Scheme of Work. You will also have access to the full LM Scheme of Work.

You will also be equipped in leading and supporting school staff in delivering each unit to their group of pupils.

Session1 – Wednesday 5^th June 2024, 9:30 – 3:00pm

The LM Scheme of work offers a teaching resource that is:

• Written for a non-specialist teacher

• Contains detailed lesson plans and written resources
• Includes fully planned Slides for immediate delivery, with links to all resources
• Has clear progression routes across the units and key stages
• Has assessment built into the planning and teaching time
• Can be adapted to be used with cross curricular links without losing the teaching of musical skills

Session 2 - Wednesday 20th November 2024, 9.30am to 3:00pm
Unit 3 – Rhythm
Unit 4 – Pitch

Session 3 – Wednesday 19th March 2025, 9.30am to 3:00pm
Unit 5 – Music Technology, Form and Structure
Unit 6 – 20^th Century music

This suitable for Music Coordinators, specialist and non-specialist primary teachers who teach music curriculum lessons (EYFS, KS1, KS2)
