Dear Parent/Carer,
On Friday 16th September 2022 we are holding a special after school 'Orchestral Workshop Extravaganza' at St Martins Catholic Voluntary Academy, Stoke Golding, Nuneaton, CV13 6HT for all orchestral instrumentalists from Grade 1 upwards.
We are offering this special opportunity to all talented young musicians in the Hinckley and Bosworth Areas. The workshop extravaganza will be led by Sam Goldsworthy, the conductor of the Hinckley Area Schools Orchestra supported by volunteer teachers in the area. Extra support from specialist teachers will be present to help engage the learning of the session. All the teaching staff are fully DBS checked.

The Hinckley Area Schools Orchestra, in its previous guise, has played in some fantastic venues over the years, such as Bedworth Civic Hall, Proms in the Park, Belvoir Castle, The Birmingham Symphony Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, and most memorable of all performing the Finale of the Schools Proms to a packed Royal Albert Hall in 2007.

Plan for the Orchestra workshop:
Your young musician will be playing two short pieces of music; 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' and the ever popular 'Habanera' from the Carmen Suite No 2. The rehearsal will give them the chance to practice with help from specialist teachers, and later to show off some of what they've been learning in an informal performance situation. This is an excellent and enjoyable opportunity for your child to develop their skills playing alongside other young musicians in the local area as part of an ensemble.

The session will run as follows:
3.45pm - Registration onwards
4.00pm - Rehearsal (We will have a short break in the rehearsal biscuits provided)
5.40pm - 6.00pm Short presentation to parent/carers

Please bring your own music stand named if you have one.

If you are interested in coming along to the 'Orchestra Workshop Extravaganza' please register for your place by emailing one of us directly:
Jane Kimberley scello_jflute@yahoo.co.uk
Natasha Pattinson npattinsonmusic@gmail.com
Lorna Furniss, Head of Music St Martins lfurniss@saint-martins.net

We very much hope you are able to support this group and we look forward to planning further exciting performance opportunities and as a result, taking music in the Hinckley area on from strength to strength. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the above information.
Best wishes
