About
The Dutch cellist Hanneke Rouw began playing her instrument at the age of 8 years. She attended lessons from Rata Kloppenburg and Maria Hol with great joy. At the age of 16, Hanneke was given an honorable mention at the Prinsess Christina Competition; a competition for young classical talent in the Netherlands. Hanneke studied with Martijn Vink at the Luca School of Arts in Leuven, Belgium. She has gained inspiration from conversations with internationally renowned cellists such as Stephen Isserlis and Anner Bijlsma. Hanneke plays a German cello (early 20th century). Purchasing this instrument was enabled by funding from the Dutch Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds and the foundation Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument.
Last season Hanneke was on tour in the Netherlands. She took great pleasure in performing cello suites by Bach and cello sonatas by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Lalo, Brahms, Saint-Saëns, Grieg and Rachmaninoff all over the country. On this tour she was accompanied by the Dutch pianist Anouk de Jong and the Russian pianist Sofia Vasheruk. Anouk de Jong has played in the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands and accompanies students at ArtEZ University of the Arts. Coming from Moscow, pianist Sofia Vasheruk was semi-finalist of the highly prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition (Belgium), and award winner of various other competitions, such as the André Dumortier International Piano Competition (Belgium) and the Young Pianist Foundation Piano Competition (the Netherlands). Additionally, she performs as a soloist with several orchestras, amongst which the Russian National Orchestra.
Following the success of the aforementioned tour, Hanneke Rouw wishes to bring her wonderful talent to not only the Netherlands, but also in the United Kingdom, Belgium and Germany.
