An Early Years Music network offered by Leicestershire Music in partnership with The Spark Arts.
This FREE network event is for all teachers, teaching assistants and early years practitioners working with children aged 2-5 years interested in developing music in their setting.
The network is being held in partnership with The Spark Arts for Children, Leicestershire Music, and Leicester City Council Early Help Team as part of the Music Champions project, aiming to support teachers, teaching assistants, and early years practitioners in teaching music.
The session will be led by Educator, Researcher and Author Nicola Burke. Nicola has worked extensively with Early Childhood Settings, Arts & Music organisations, projects and programmes, Music Education Hubs and schools to develop their understanding to enable meaningful musical experiences for young children. Nicola also wrote the Musical Development Matters guidance in 2018.
This session will help participants to develop their Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) music practice and provision and will specifically explore:
- A basic introduction to music in the Early Years for non-music specialists and those new to working with younger children
- What child-led music practice can look like working with younger children (0-5 Years)
