The LSMS Music Educators Conference 2020 will soon be upon us and we are excited to announce we have national experts delivering workshops to inspire and support music education in Leicester-Shire and beyond. The overarching theme for this year is supporting schools in meeting the new Ofsted framework.

The conference will be within the beautiful surroundings of Beaumanor Hall. There will be practical and pedagogical workshops to support you in leading music within your school, listen to live music, opportunities to network and share good practice with colleagues and hear from the Key Note speaker, Faz Shah, the beatboxing violinist.

A question that is being asked frequently is "What do I need to know about subject Leadership under the new framework?" After a presentation led by a Headteacher there will be time for questions and answers in this workshop that will answer many of your questions in a supportive way.

Nicola Burke has developed Musical Development Matters in the Early Years, a document with the overall purpose of supporting practitioners, teachers, musicians and parents to see the musical attributes of young children and to offer ideas as to how they can support and nurture children's musical development by offering broad musical experiences. Nicola will share these documents and share a range of ways that the documents can support you in music education.

Have you always wanted to be a DJ? Turn your musical skills to turntablism and have a lesson with Brad Smith, as featured in Music Teacher magazine

Your KS3 pupils will thank you for attending the beatboxing workshop led by Brad Smith and Nicki Atkins. Bring out your inner beatboxing skills and have fun while making music with colleagues. You will leave the session with a Unit of Work to deliver back at school.

Snappy Opera, in partnership with LSMS, have created 10 minute opera and supported schools in putting on opera performances. Attend this practical workshop and gain resources and knowledge in setting up an opera within your school.

These are a few of the highlights of attending the Music Educators' Conference 2020.
