Leicester-Shire School Music Service is delighted to be working with The National Youth Jazz Collective (NYJC) on an exciting new project, exploring the world of Jazz. We want you to be part of it, whatever instrument you play!

Come and experience the joy and excitement of Jazz under the expert guidance of NYJC, the UK's premier youth jazz and improvisation educators.

Who will be leading the sessions?
Tutors for the day will be Issie Barratt (baritone sax player and composer http://www.issiebarratt.co.uk ), Shirley Smart (cellist and composer https://www.shirleysmart.com) and Tom Hewson (Pianist and composer http://www.tomhewson.com).

Where and when?
Wigston College Station Road Wigston LE18 2DP on Saturday 8th December 2018 from 10:00am to 5:00pm

Who is this for?
This experience day is aimed at any instrumentalist or singer who is above grade 3 standard whatever instrument you play.

What do I need to bring?
Just you and your instrument, whether that be a saxophone, violin, bassoon, or recorder!! Jazz isn't limited to "jazz instruments"…there's no such thing! And don't forget, your voice is an instrument too! If you play electric guitar, bass or keyboards, please bring your own practice amp.

How much does it cost?
Nothing! Not a penny! But you will need to bring drinks and a packed lunch. Students in year 11 and over will be allowed out at lunch providing they sign out with a member of staff.
