This training session will offer practical tips and advice to overcome some of the barriers teachers may face when teaching classroom music lessons. Classroom tuned and untuned instruments will be explored to gain familiarity and confidence. The morning will have a strong practical focus on understanding the inter-related dimensions of music and how these can be translated into meaningful classroom work. We will share how to apply adaptive teaching strategies to ensure both support and challenge are catered for. In the afternoon we will spend some time understanding notation and how it is introduced to each year group. We will cover simple singing strategies including effective warm ups and ways into part singing. Finally, we will focus on developing Listening skills in an active and progressive way.
