Leicester MusicFest 2020

Leicester MusicFest are contacting local musicians, teachers and music lovers to let you know about the variety of musical events planned as part of Leicester MusicFest 2020 (14th-16th February at English Martyrs' School, Anstey Lane, Leicester).

They run competition classes for all ability levels in Piano, Singing, Pipe Organ, Classical Guitar and, new for this year, Composition. The entry deadline for all competition classes is the 1st December 2019. You can enter online at https://www.leicestermusicfest.com/enter

The competition syllabus is attached, (also available online here: https://www.leicestermusicfest.com/syllabus), and we are very happy to answer any queries about suitable repertoire. Leicester MusicFest aims to provide a friendly, positive platform for amateur musicians to perform, and competitors of all ages and experience can expect a supportive audience and constructive feedback from an expert adjudicator. All adjudicators are active professional performers.

In addition to our competition classes, we have a variety of workshops and masterclasses on offer. All of these events are free of charge for under-19s. Visit https://www.leicestermusicfest.com/ for more information on booking a place.

Come and Sing Carmina Burana!- An exciting chance to join professional soloists, local school choirs and anyone-and-everyone, to come and sing the epic work, Carmina Burana, from scratch, and perform it the same evening in the Gala Concert on Sunday 16th Feb!

Introduction to Alexander Technique - This workshop, lead by Catherine Fleming, will work with up to 20 participants, introducing them to Alexander Technique, which can be widely beneficial to musicians and non-musicians alike.

Guitar demo: from Bach to Blues - Rob Johns will demonstrate playing different styles on different guitars including classical guitar, authentic flamenco, and steel string - an eclectic mix from Bach to Blues, and breaking down barriers between the types of guitar.

Organ Masterclass with Cathy Lamb - Up to four organists will work on artistry, technique, registration and more.

Musical Theatre Masterclass with Liza Hobbs - Up to four singers will work on characterisation, stage presence, text and technique in musical theatre repertoire.

Do get in touch if you have any questions about entering our competitions/awards/bursaries or any other events - we are always happy to hear from you.

Best wishes,
