The Orchestra of De Montfort University seeks musicians for performance

Dear All
We are now planning our next concert with the University Orchestra, which will take place on 23rd November 2019 at Leicester Cathedral.
The concert programme will include the second performance of Richard Birchall's 'Perhaps', which was commissioned by the Orchestra in 2017 and we very much hope to welcome back Belinda Evans to sing solo Soprano. 'Perhaps' was inspired by a poem written by Vera Brittain in 1916 for Roland Leighton who was serving in France during the Great War and was tragically killed, aged just 20 years old. Alongside 'Perhaps', the programme will also include Charles Ives' 'The Unanswered Question' and will conclude with the uplifting Dvorak Symphony No.8 – Full programme details to follow shortly.
For this year's concerts, we've changed the format of the rehearsals in response to feedback from members and for this concert, we will be experimenting with a new rehearsal structure of two full-day Saturday rehearsals, followed by the rehearsal and concert on 23rd November.
The Saturday rehearsals will be full orchestra and will also include sectional rehearsals, which will be led by members of the Philharmonia Orchestra.
With this in mind, the rehearsal schedule for this concert will be as follows:
26th October: 1000 – 1600 – Venue TBC
9th November:1000 – 1600 – Venue TBC
23rd November: Rehearsal 1300 – 1600 (TBC) with concert at 1900
The Orchestra of De Montfort University welcomes students, staff, alumni and musicians from across the city and county to work with and perform alongside musicians from our partners at the Philhramonia Orchestra.
If you would like to play in the Orchestra for this concert and indeed if you know of fellow students, friends and colleagues who would also be interested in playing at the concert, please email music@dmu.ac.uk
