Classical 100 Bringing the magic of music to the classroom - ABRSM
Posted: Tue, 03 Nov 2015 15:02
Today we (ABRSM) launched a new resource for primary school teachers in England to help them to inspire their pupils with music. Complementing existing teaching resources, Classical 100 is the result of an ABRSM-led collaboration involving Classic FM, Decca and the Department for Education.
The resource is free and offers 100 pieces of wonderful music - new and old - to use in a variety of settings, whether a school assembly or a music lesson. At its simplest, teachers can play a recording of each piece to their pupils, while sharing and exploring the stories behind the music and its composer.
Classical 100 gives pupils access to music by composers ranging from Bach to Bernstein and Handel to Haydn. The list is also dynamic, allowing teachers to sort the music by mood, instrument, tempo and historical period, or in any other way that suits them.
