Booking is now open for the 2014-2015 Inspire season. If you're a budding young composer of any musical genre, then read below for more information about how to get involved!
Over the past 16 years, the BBC Proms Inspire scheme has offered a platform for young composers aged 12 - 18 to develop their skills, meet like-minded composers and get their music heard. In 2014 alone, Inspire has worked with over 550 young composers, and will have commissioned 9 new works and performed and broadcast the music of 21 young composers.
Each year, Inspire is delivered in three phases: a series of Composer Labs in cities across the UK, delivered in partnership with the BBC Performing Groups and partner ensembles; the Young Composers' Competition; and a series of Inspire events during the BBC Proms season.
This season's Inspire Labs take place between November 2014 and March 2015. Labs are free and offer young composers of all abilities the opportunity to work alongside leading composers Fraser Trainer, Stuart MacRae and Anna Meredith and professional orchestral musicians in a day of musical discovery.
Secondary school teachers in London can also participate in the scheme via an Inspire Teacher Lab designed to help teachers develop their compositional classroom teaching skills.
