Make Your Own Kind of Music

A new virtual singing project from Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service.

Who is it for?
It's for EVERYONE! If you like music and singing, then we want you to be involved!

What's the Song?
Make Your Own Kind of Music is a pop song written in the 1960's, famously recorded by Mama Cass and more recently by Paloma Faith.

Why are we doing this?
We are passionate about engaging people in music. Despite the pandemic, we have continued to find new ways for people and communities to connect through music. Music is a powerful way for people to communicate, to feel part of something and for us all to feel uplifted.

We want this project to be a reflection of people living all over Leicester and Leicestershire. Therefore it is open to individuals, families, community groups (such as support groups, guiding or scouting organisations), Adult & Community Choirs, Schools and SEND organisations.

Singing & Signing

We have a resource video which signs the words to the song. We would like as many people as possible to learn the signing and participate in this element of the song.

If you are a non-verbal communicator, then we have a special chorus just for you. We really want everyone to "Make Your Own Kind Of Music" and be featured on our track.

Primary, Secondary and SEND School - Special Package!

We would love you to get your pupils singing again. There are two ways in which your school can participate.
