Fostering Voices (Adult Choir)

Fostering Voices was set up around 4 years ago with the aim of bringing together Foster Carers in a light-hearted and fun setting, enabling them to join together and sing whilst also providing support for each other.

It's free for anyone to join and you don't have to have sung before, everyone is welcome. Many of our members had never sung but have learned along the way and really enjoy taking part. Following the singing session, everyone has the chance to have a (free) hot drink and socialise.

Here are a few comments from the video we made about the group.

'I've been in the group for about 4 years now and it's made such a difference, it's brilliant, it's great as it makes you feel so good'

'We've been welcomed with open arms and everyone was accepting and friendly – and we support each other'

'It's like kinship from a carers' point of view. I was quite isolated – I found support here that I haven't found anywhere else. I don't know what singing does, but I feel like walking on air afterwards.'

'I definitely feel happier, and this is the one thing that I come to in the week that's just for me'

'Everybody says 'Come and Join us!' – but I can't sing – but you don't need to be able to, you learn that as you go along'.

'It makes you feel good about yourself, and if you feel good about yourself, you feel good during your fostering.'

Quote from a parent of Junior Voices;
'Hard to find new superlatives to express what an inspiring experience this has been for my son. So enjoyable, and ''Well Done!'' Having moved here just 6 months ago from an area of the Uk that has no opportunities to rival Leicestershires wide ranging and inclusive offering, we feel very lucky! Thank you to all involved.
