Using free ipad apps and free browser music software to achieve purposeful musical outcomes.

Course description
This training session will be divided into two main sections which are optional to attend, according to which section/s delegates will find most useful.

Section A (9:30am – 12:00pm)

In this session, delegates will be shown a range of free ipad apps and accompanying lesson plans / PowerPoint that can be used to teach a variety of clear musical outcomes in a classroom. As well as being shown and recommended some other useful free music apps, delegates will be shown some affordable hardware options and useful iPad tips. Section B (12:45pm – 3:15pm)
In this session, delegates will be shown a range of free internet browser based music software to teach a variety of clear musical outcomes. This software needs no installation and only requires an internet browser (ideally Google Chrome) and the latest version of Flash to run (the latest version of Chrome comes with Flash already integrated). Delegates will be shown accompanying lesson plans / PowerPoints which can be used with the software to deliver purposeful musical outcomes in a classroom. Learning Outcome
As a result of this training, teachers will be upskilled and given resources to help support their teaching of music using PC based or / and iPad technology.

Course Leader
Bradley Smith is Lead for Music Technology at Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service. He has a degree in Music Technology from De Montfort University and has taught and coordinated Music at several schools over his teaching career. Before teaching, he ran his own music workshops business where he delivered Turntablism and Music Production to a range of young people across a range of educational settings, including: Primary, Secondary, SEN Units, PRUs and Youth Centres.
