Transport for Saturday Ensembles
Did you know we also provide a network of buses from various points around the county that will bring your children to our Saturday ensembles leaving you with some valuable free time?
Students are met at our bus terminus (Wigston College) where they either stay and rehearse or are escorted to the shuttle bus to travel to their groups' rehearsal venue. Students transferring to another site are also met by LSMS supervisors at the destination venue. The same process happens on the return journey.
On Saturday mornings during term time, LSMS operate bus routes which travel from various points in the county, picking up students at designated points along the way before arriving at our bus terminus at Wigston College. At the terminus, all students leave their bus and travel to their rehearsal by;
- Catching a shuttlebus to Little Hill Primary School (members of Training Orchestra & Junior Concert Band)
- Catching a shuttlebus to Eyres Monsell Primary School (members of Wind Orchestra)
- Catching a shuttlebus to The Salvation Army (Leicester South) (members of LSSO)
All other students rehearse at Wigston College and do not need to travel further, (members of Concert Orchestra & Strictly Strings).
Following rehearsals, students using transport return to Wigston College (via shuttlebus / on foot) and board their bus to take their journey home. On the return journey, the buses stop at the designated points in the reverse order.
Parents / Carers of younger students are welcome to accompany them for the first couple of weeks to ensure that they are happy and confident about travelling on their own.
There is a termly fee of £50.00 for the transport which will be added to your invoice if used. If you fall under one of our full remission categories, there will be no charge for transport.
