Free Music Technology Planning

Sheep Beats is a free, browser based application which allows pupils to quickly begin notating drum patterns. Using a repeating one bar loop, pupils can enter notes into the grid and watch and hear the sheep animations play back what has been entered. There are some pre-set patterns which exemplify drum rhythms associated with a few genres and there is also the capability to enter in melodic bass lines and chords.

Please feel welcome to download our free written lesson plan (below) with accompanying printable handouts and PowerPoint. Included in the written planning are more ideas for potential lessons based around Sheep Beats.

Music Champion Headteachers

We would like to identify schools that are already achieving excellence in music and want to become a Music Champion Head teacher. This would give Head Teachers the opportunity to attend champion school Head teacher meetings twice a year, engage in supportive conversations with their Head Teachers about the quality of music teaching and the curriculum in their schools and get involved in Champion School events.

If you are interested in becoming a Champion School Head teacher for Music please download the information below and send an email confirming your interest to Sarah.share@leics.gov.uk

LSMS Music Quality Mark

All schools that had achieved a Bronze, Silver or Gold LSMS Music Quality Mark award were invited to receive their certificate and logos at Beaumanor Hall in November. This was to mark the end of the first round of the LSMS Music Quality Mark. Certificates were presented by Peter Lewis, former Chairman of the County Council and he celebrated the achievement by talking personally about each school and the good practice they currently have in place in their school in regards to music.

If you would like recognition of the hard work the school has put into improving the quality of music following on from the Challenging conversation or can demonstrate the impact the LSMS Music Quality Mark conversation has had on your school and you would like to apply for the next award please email sarah.share@leics.gov.uk to arrange a second FREE consultation meeting.
