Boomwhackers in Action! – Practical Music-Making Session

Have you got sets of Boomwhackers that are gathering dust? Are they just sitting on top of a piano looking pretty and colourful? Need a few more ideas about how to get the most from them? If so then this fun, hands on, active workshop is just for you!
The session will explore Wakefield Music Services popular resource 'Boomwhackers in Action' and will include:
- Lots of original progressive activities suitable from KS1-KS3 that support National Curriculum Music
- Ideas on how to integrate Boomwhackers with other tuned and untuned percussion
- Original stimulating backing tracks and interactive materials that promote effective music teaching and Boomwhacker work by the specialist and non-specialist
Phil Needham is Principal of Wakefield Music Education Hub and feels very privileged to be in a position where he can share his passion and promote the importance of music with teachers and young people of all ages. He was previously an advisory teacher after beginning his career as a secondary music teacher and Head of Department. He has an overwhelming enthusiasm for music and teaching with a strong belief that practical music making is for everyone.
Phil currently gets a great deal of enjoyment out of delivering whole class instrumental sessions, song writing and directing choirs and vocal groups. He provides music CPD across the country runs workshops in schools and is co-author of a series of nationally recognised publications that help teachers deliver the music curriculum.
