FREE - Network meetings

Suitable for: primary, secondary, special school music teachers, music co-ordinators, heads of department and teaching assistants

Meeting objectives

  • To update colleagues about national, regional and local developments in music education
  • To discuss key issues facing colleagues over the next 12 months
  • To identify and share good practice, ideas and resources
  • To network with colleagues
  • FREE workshop/training with resources to take away

The secondary and primary phase meetings will take place at the same time with two separate agendas - giving colleagues the opportunity to network informally over coffee.

All meetings will run from 3:45pm until 5:15pm and there are 6 Music network meetings each term in the following areas:

City, Coalville / Hinckley, Loughborough, Melton, South East and South West.

Coalville & Hinckley Network Meetings 2017 / 18

SPRING
Due to low booking numbers, it has been decided to cancel the planned Spring meeting.

All meeting agenda will include

  • Updates in Leicester-Shire Music Education Hub funding & National Plan for Music
  • Agenda items teachers bring to the meeting

Taiko training: 3:45pm – 5:15pm
Buffet Tea and networking: 5:15 – 6:30pm

Taiko drumming is a Japanese art-form that is very engaging, quick to learn and can be especially beneficial to students who have difficulty regulating their emotions or who display challenging behaviour. It is a spectacular and very accessible medium with a rich cultural legacy that has the additional benefits of engendering confidence, team work skills, concentration and the ability to regulate emotions amongst students. This CPD session will offer delegates the opportunity to try out taiko and pick up a range of activities and approaches for teaching taiko in school settings. The session is suitable for complete beginners but more experienced Taiko Teachers are also welcome.

Leicester City Network Meetings 2017 / 18

SPRING

Main focus of meeting: Singing – practical session
FREE resources from Sing Up. Learn a song for KS2 and a song for KS3 to support singing in parts in a quick and accessible way.
